Extreme Delta Brushes in Pediatric Anti-N-Methyl-D-Aspartate Receptor Encephalitis

چکیده
Anti-N-Methyl-D-Aspartate receptor (NMDAR) encephalitis is probably the most common paraneoplastic encephalitis. In children, seizures, behavioral disturbances and abnormal movements are the most frequent symptoms. Electroencephalogram is abnormal in most patients. We report a child with antiNMDAR encephalitis presenting extreme delta brushes in the EEG. This new EEG feature is described in patients with anti-NMDAR encephalitis, mostly adults. The identification of this EEG pattern may guide to an early diagnosis and treatment of anti-NMDAR encephalitis.

Combined Therapy for Anti-N-methyl D-aspartate Receptor Encephalitis
Background Anti-N-methyl- d-aspartate receptor (anti-NMDAR) encephalitis is an autoimmune neurological disorder that usually occurs as a paraneoplastic syndrome and is particularly associated with ovarian teratoma. Standard therapy for severe cases is not established and the prognosis in patients who do not respond to first-line treatment is poor. Case Report An 11-year-old boy complained ps...

Anti-N-Methyl-D-Aspartate-Receptor (NMDA-R) encephalitis is a new autoimmune disorder, often paraneoplastic in nature, presenting with complex neuropsychiatric symptoms. Diagnosed serologically, this disorder is often responsive to immunosuppressant treatment. We here in report the case of a 56-year-old man with anti NMDA-R encephalitis presenting initially with disorientation and hallucinati...
متن کاملAutoimmune Encephalitis: A Case Presentation with Recurrent Febrile Seizures and Psychiatry Problems
Background: Autoimmune encephalitis is being diagnosed more and more often in the pediatric age group. It should be suspected in children with psychiatric symptoms, encephalopathy, abnormal movements or epileptic seizures. The most frequent autoimmune encephalitis in the pediatric is anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate (anti- NMDA) receptor encephalitis. Case report: We report a four-year-old boy with e...
متن کاملEarly and persistent ‘extreme delta brush’ in a patient with anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis☆
Since its original description in 2007, anti-N-methyl-d-aspartate receptor (anti-NMDAR) encephalitis associated with an ovarian teratoma is an increasingly recognized etiology of previously unexplained encephalopathy and encephalitis. Extreme delta brush (EDB) is a novel electroencephalogram (EEG) finding seen in many patients with anti-NMDAR encephalitis. The presence of this pattern is associ...

Anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (anti-NMDAR) encephalitis is is most common form ofimmune-mediated encephalitis with prominent neurologic and psychiatric features at disease onset. We describe a 16 years old patient who presented with fever and status epilepticus. His MRI sequences was normal. Anti-NMDAR antibodies were detected in the CSF. MRI, CT and other studies didn,t show any tum...
